OUR HISTORY

On June 21, 1987 the first service of Winston Community Baptist Church started as a mission of First Baptist Church in Myrtle Creek. Community Baptist Chapel started with a full-time pastor, music director, pianist and Discipleship Training Director. Then on February 28, 1988 Community Baptist Church was Constituted into a church.

In October 1988 Community Baptist Church purchased 2.03 acres in a highly visible area between Winston City Park and a well established restaurant near downtown Winston, Oregon and is near the community Junior High School.

By April 23, 1989 enough funds had been raised to pay off the land loan for the church. Then at the next business meeting on April 30, 1989 it was voted on to proceed with the building plans. On August 30, 1989 groundbreaking service for construction of the first unit began.

On March 11, 1990 the first services were held in the new building with the dedication of the building on April 29, 1990.

Then in April 2009, we began Phase I of our church's expansion plan. Phase I consist of expanding our entry way by 10 feet and enlarging the foyer. This will allow for more seating as well as pushing the sound system to the back corner where it will have its own room. Each phase will be completed as funds become available. The entire project is expected to take approximately one year.
