| On June 21, 1987 the first
service of Winston Community Baptist Church started as a mission of First
Baptist Church in Myrtle Creek. Community Baptist Chapel started with a
full-time pastor, music director, pianist and Discipleship Training
Director. Then on February 28, 1988 Community Baptist Church was Constituted
into a church.
In October 1988 Community Baptist Church purchased 2.03
acres in a highly visible area between Winston City Park and a well
established restaurant near downtown Winston, Oregon and is near the
community Junior High School.
By April 23, 1989 enough
funds had been raised to pay off the land loan for the church. Then at the
next business meeting on April 30, 1989 it was voted on to proceed with the
building plans. On August 30, 1989 groundbreaking service for construction
of the first unit began.
On March 11, 1990 the first services were held in the new
building with the dedication of the building on April 29, 1990. The picture on
the left is how the new building looked back then.
With a lot of prayer, planning and raising of funds we
began an expansion project to our church in April 2009 that we called Phase
1. This project consisted of expanding our
entry way by 10 feet and pushing the sound system to the back corner where
it will have its own section. By making this move it will enlarge the foyer
making more room for seating. Also, a new bell tower will be added once
phase 1 is officially completed.
By the summer of 2010 most of the construction had
been completed, but the final touch, the bell tower, was added on February
18, 2011, making Phase 1 complete.
